MINING EMERGENCY RESPONSE COMPETITION INVITATION

Mining by nature is a high risk profession and with WA having over a third of Australia’s mining workforce, emergency response and safetyis a very high priority.

Mine Rescue teams play an integral role in the Western Australian mining industry. Teams are usually made up of volunteers who face great difficulty and danger to rescue fellow workers. Many mines sites also have mutual aid agreements with their local shire. This means rescue teams attend emergencies outside the mine perimeter to assist the local community in situations such as road accidents, medical emergencies, fires, floods and much more.

MERC is an annual Western Australian event that showcases these Emergency Response teams from resource industry companies demonstrating their wonderful skills across a range of realistic scenarios.

As proud supporters of MERC we would like you to join us down at Langley Park. This is a Free family event, there will be a range of free activities for the kids, including the chance to get up close to some rescue vehicles. Open from 8am – 5pm Saturday & 8am – 2pm Sunday.
